CVAC will be at the Strawberry Festival

May 13th, 2012

Watch for CVAC at the annual Strawberry Festival.  Stop by and say hello.  Bring your kids to check out the ambulance.

The Strawberry Festival is put on by the Episcopal Church of St. Mary the Virgin – lots of strawberries, whipped cream, games, and fun for kids.   CVAC will be there because of the very real chance of bee stings – there are a few every year and one nevers know when one may become serious.

If anyone needs first aid, we’re there to help!

CVAC Participates in Annual County Airport Drill

May 5th, 2012

CVAC participated in the annual Westchester County Airport drill today.  Every year, several CVAC members take one of our ambulances to the airport to participate in what is called a mass casualty incident.  Whenever there is an incident that involves more injuries than the local EMS service can manage, it is termed a mass casualty incident or an MCI.  There are numerous special protocols involved in responding to and managing an MCI.  Add to this the potential for fire, and for extrication of trapped victims.

The MCI drill at the airport also involves numerous fire departments.  These drills allow the various agencies involved to practice working together under simulated emergency conditions. CVAC members who participate in this drill bring back valuable lessons learned to the rest of the ambulance corps, helping CVAC do its part to serve the community and the region.  You can see photos from the drill held today, May 5th, 2012, at:  http://www.chappaquaambulance.org/CVAC_Photos.shtml.
